Immersive, theatre-based professional development day using acting techniques to explore presentation styles through live-staged scripts.
Theatre Skills for Presenting Yourself is a one-day professional development workshop at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Thursday 22 October, running from 9:30am to 1:00pm. It's led by Katie Mitchell, a producer, director and drama artist who's worked for over a decade with Scottish companies including Perth Theatre, Concert Hall, Strange Town Theatre, Macrobert Arts Centre and the Royal Lyceum Theatre. She was awarded the Federation of Scottish Theatre's Producer Bursary in 2020 and now works as the Playhouse's Producer for the ATG Inspire programme.
The session is immersive and theatre-based, drawing on acting techniques used by Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Judi Dench to explore different presentation styles through scripts staged live. It opens in the Little Picardy bar with tea, coffee and pastries for networking, followed by a first part on presentation styles and techniques. After a short break, a second part puts that learning into practice with analysis and feedback.
