A madcap hour of drag, burlesque, music, comedy and medical mayhem by Dr Bonk, the show of comedian Eliott Simpson that ran at the Edinburgh Horror Festival.
Dr Bonk is bringing The Macarbaret to The Banshee Labyrinth on the 19th and 21st of December, two nights in the Old Town that run from 7pm to 8pm. It's a madcap hour of drag, burlesque, music, comedy and medical mayhem, all held together by Dr Bonk himself, who goes by the title of Scotland's silliest surgeon.
Bonk is the one running the show, and he's not alone. He's joined by an all-sorts of spooky performers, with an unseen ghostly narrator adding another layer to the mix. The whole thing comes from the mind of critically acclaimed comedian Eliott Simpson, and it follows a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Horror Festival, of which it forms part.
If you're wondering what to expect, the reviews give you a fair idea. It's been called 'offbeat, wacky and unpredictable', 'the most hi-concept MC'ing you'll ever see', 'weird as f***k' and 'a refreshingly different addition to your must-see comedy list'. That last one tells you where it sits: it's a comedy night, but it pulls in drag, burlesque and music, so it's more of a variety show than a stand-up set. The medical theme runs through it, too, with Bonk billed as the not-so-good doctor in charge of the mayhem.

Both dates are at The Banshee Labyrinth, 29-35 Niddry Street, Edinburgh Old Town EH1 1LG, from 7pm to 8pm. It's a one-hour show, so it's a fairly easy one to fit into a December evening.
