Cam Robinson shares his decade of filming penguins in the polar regions in a Royal Scottish Geographical Society Inspiring People Talk.
Cam Robinson is coming to the University of Edinburgh on Wednesday 17 February, as part of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society's Inspiring People Talk series. It's a talk about filming penguins in the polar regions, and Robinson is the one who's actually been out there doing it.
For the last decade, Robinson has been turning his camera and filmmaking experience towards some of the planet's most incredible wildlife. This particular talk, Frozen Frontiers: Penguin Discovery, focuses on the birds that call the polar regions home. He's not just showing the footage, though; he's talking about the journey and the experience of getting it. That's the part that usually makes these things worth seeing — the stories from behind the lens, the logistics of working in some of the most remote places on Earth, and what it's actually like to spend that kind of time in the field.

It's presented by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, so it sits within their Inspiring People series, which brings people into the city to talk about their work in the field. The whole thing is hosted at the University of Edinburgh, in the south of the city, on the evening of Wednesday 17 February. If you've got any interest in wildlife filmmaking or the polar regions, this is one of those nights that puts a face and a voice to the kind of work you usually only see as a finished documentary on a screen. It's Robinson himself telling the story of how those images come together, from the planning to the actual time spent with the birds.
