Evening of networking and discussion with Energy Minister Michael Shanks and a panel of Scottish energy and business experts on achieving clean power by 2030.
Clean Power - the Road to 2030 comes to the Business School, The University of Edinburgh on Thursday 5 November, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. It's part of the Business Series, a programme of public events the school runs that brings together industry experts, practitioners, academics, students and the local business community for knowledge sharing, discussion and networking. This one is held jointly with the Centre for Business, Climate Change & Sustainability (B-CCaS), and the whole thing is built around the UK Government's commitment to reach clean power by 2030, which sits inside its wider target of net zero by 2050.
The evening kicks off with a keynote from Energy Minister the Rt Hon Michael Shanks MP, followed by a panel discussion chaired by Charles Hendry, CBE. The panel brings together a few different angles on the subject: Keith Anderson from ScottishPower, Nicola Anderson from Scottish Enterprise, Laurence Rockey from the Edinburgh & South-East Scotland City Region, and Dr Mengfei Jiang from the University of Edinburgh Business School. It's a good mix of government, industry, regional development and academia all in one room, so you'll hear from the people actually tasked with delivering the transition as well as those studying it.

Networking is a big part of the night, with tea and coffee at the start and drinks at the close, so it's as much about the people you meet as the discussion on stage. The session runs from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at the Business School, 29 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh EH8 9JS, and it's now sold out.
