A Northern soul night featuring an 11-piece live band and four lead vocalists performing over 30 original hits at the Assembly Rooms.
Northern Live are bringing their show Do I Love You to the Assembly Rooms on Saturday 17 October. It's a Northern Soul night, and the scale of it is worth noting before you go: they're performing with an 11-piece live band and four lead vocalists, so it's a full stage of musicians rather than a DJ set. Over the course of the evening, they'll work through more than 30 original hits, which should keep things moving for a good while.
Northern Live describes Do I Love You as a celebration of the original sounds of the underground dance movement from the North. If you're not familiar with Northern Soul, it's a scene that grew around mid-century American soul and R&B records that became dancefloor favourites in the clubs of Northern England, and that's the territory they're covering here. With an 11-piece band and four vocalists, they're recreating those sounds live rather than playing them from vinyl.

The show is at the Assembly Rooms on George Street, with doors opening at 18:30 and the music starting at 19:30. There's a 20-minute interval, and the whole thing wraps up by 21:40. Tickets start from £29.50, which includes a 10% per-ticket booking fee, and there's a non-refundable £2 transaction fee for bookings made by phone or online. If you're planning to go, it's a Saturday night in the city centre, so it's an easy one to build a proper evening around.
