A selection of films and documentaries on mountain sports and adventures shown at the historic Assembly Rooms.
Mountains on Stage returns to the Assembly Rooms on Tuesday 1 December, bringing a selection of films and documentaries focused on mountain sports and adventures. It's a winter edition of the series, and the whole thing is about bringing the mountains into the city for an evening.
The films and documentaries are all built around mountain sports and adventures, so the night is aimed at anyone with an interest in that world. If you're into climbing, skiing, or just the kind of stories that come out of high altitudes, that's exactly what you'll find on screen.
The venue is the Assembly Rooms at 54 George Street in Edinburgh New Town, one of the city centre's largest and most impressive multi-purpose event spaces. It's a Georgian building over two centuries old that's hosted monarchy and celebrity royalty, played its part in two world wars, and celebrated artistic excellence. A major redevelopment completed in 2012 restored the Ballroom, Music Hall, Drawing Rooms, and Crush Hall to their former glory, keeping their architectural significance while bringing in the latest technology.
