Meet Cody Dahler

Cody Dahler is at Waterstones Edinburgh West End on Saturday 7 November, signing copies of his new book, The State of This! – A Thicky Thicky Dumb Dumb's Guide to British Politics. It's a book signing, so the draw is the chance to get your copy signed and have a quick word with him in person.

Dahler is an award-winning comedian, satirist and political writer, and The State of This! is his take on the current state of British politics, written as satire. It's a deep dive into the machinery of the place, and it's built around the questions his followers ask him across social media — where he's got more than two million people following his work. The topics he tackles are the ones that come up in the comments: why people vote for Reform UK, why the country Brexited, what the House of Lords actually is, and why British rivers are full of shit. The whole thing is framed as a guide for the 'thicky thicky dumb dumb', and the aim is to turn complex political issues into something you can actually understand and laugh about.

It's a 320-page book from Bonnier Books Ltd, published on 5 November, so the signing comes just a couple of days after it hits the shelves. If you've been following his political commentary online, this is the chance to see it gathered into one volume and get it signed by the man himself.

It's on Saturday 7 November from 12:00 to 13:30 at Waterstones Edinburgh West End, 128 Princes Street, Edinburgh New Town EH2 4AD. Entry is free.
