Author talk by Bonnie Garmus about her novel 'Peck & Peck', chaired by poet Donna Ashworth.
Bonnie Garmus is coming to Edinburgh New Town Church on Wednesday 11 November, as part of the tour for her latest novel, Peck & Peck. It's an in-conversation evening rather than a reading, with Garmus on stage and Donna Ashworth chairing the discussion. Ashworth is a #1 Sunday Times bestselling poet with over two million followers, so the night brings together two writers from very different ends of the literary world.
Peck & Peck is set in 1982 New York City and centres on the prestigious poetry quarterly of the same name, run by its twin editors in chief, the Peck brothers. Garmus describes it as both a passionate ode to the written word and a heartwarming exploration of what makes us human. If you're into the world of publishing, old-school literary journals, or just a story about siblings running a business together, it's right in that wheelhouse.
For those who only know her from Lessons in Chemistry, Garmus has a bit of a story behind her. She's an American author born in California, now based in Seattle and London, who rocketed into the literary scene at 64 with that 2022 debut. Before that, she spent her career as a copywriter and creative director in technology, medicine and education, so she's come to writing from a very different professional background than most novelists. Peck & Peck is her second novel, and this tour is her way of taking it on the road.

The evening is at Edinburgh New Town Church, 13 George St, EH2 2PA, on Wednesday 11 November. It starts at 7pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before Garmus and Ashworth take the stage.
