Baby-friendly six-week knitting and crochet course for beginners to make a pixie bonnet, with a drop-in social crafting circle.
Kin Knits is a baby-friendly knitting and crochet course run by Kin Collective, based at Lochend Road Hall in Leith. It's a six-week block that runs on Wednesdays at 2pm, from 30 September to 4 November 2026, and it's taught by Jo. If you're a complete beginner, you'll pick up the basics over the course and end up with a pixie bonnet to show for it. Materials and tea are included in the price, and there's a baby-friendly setup throughout: you can bring your little one in a sling or on a playmat, so you don't have to leave them at home to get a bit of crafting in.
Following the class, there's a social crafting circle that starts at 3pm, which you're welcome to join if you fancy staying on for a chat and a bit more making. If you're not up for the full six-week commitment, the circle also runs as a drop-in session on its own.
Kin Collective describes itself as a community space in Leith, a place of kindness free from judgement and supported by a large team of volunteers. The venue is fully accessible, with a ramp, step-free access, an accessible toilet and baby change, and space to store prams and buggies. They also run groups and classes at Kin at Leith St James and The Red Sandstone.
