Cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew brings his book to the stage with ten moments that redefined modern cricket, dressing-room confessions and audience questions.
Jonathan Agnew brings his new show, My Ten Moments that Shaped Modern Cricket, to the Assembly Rooms on Friday 7 May 2027. If you know the voice, you know the man: Agnew, better known to fans as 'Aggers', has spent three decades at the heart of the sport, first as an international fast bowler and then as the BBC's cricket correspondent. He stepped back from the daily beat in 2024 but has stayed on as Test Match Special's senior voice, so he's still right in the thick of it.
The evening is built around his new book, where he counts down the ten moments he believes redefined modern cricket. He brings that list to the stage, filling in the gaps with dressing-room confessions and commentary-box secrets that don't make it into the reports. He'll be talking through the big shifts he's witnessed from the inside — from apartheid reshaping the international game to the arrival of T20 and the IPL — and he'll be recounting the 'leg over' moment voted the greatest in sporting history. It's a look at the game's last thirty years told by someone who was actually there for most of it.

It's not just a monologue, either: there's a Q&A session where the audience gets to put their own questions to the man behind the microphone. If you've spent years listening to him call the action from the commentary box, this is your chance to ask him about it in person. The show starts at 7.30pm at the Assembly Rooms, 54 George Street, Edinburgh New Town EH2 2LR, with tickets from £37.20 including all fees.
