Singer-songwriter Gia Ford plays The Speakeasy at the Voodoo Rooms on West Register Street.
Gia Ford plays The Voodoo Rooms on Sunday 25 October, her only Edinburgh date this autumn. She's a singer-songwriter from Sheffield, and the set will be her own — no support act on the bill, just her taking the stage.
If you're coming to her for the first time, there's a fair bit to catch up on. Her debut album, Transparent Things, came out in 2024, and she's been adding to it since then, with the single 'At Least For Now' arriving this past June. Between the album and the new single, there's plenty to draw from for a full set, so you'll hear the older material alongside the newer stuff.
She describes her sound as a mix of Sheffield swagger, alt-pop and psychedelic sleaze. The 'swagger' side of that points to the city she comes from, and the 'psychedelic sleaze' suggests the kind of music that works as well in a dark room as it does on a record. It's alt-pop with a bit of grit to it, rather than anything polished for the radio.
