Film Chat Club

Film Chat Club meets at Levels Cafe on Saturday 14 November, starting at 14:00. It's a friendly gathering for a discussion about films, and there's no screening involved — just people talking cinema over coffee. All genres are on the table, so whether you're into old noir, recent blockbusters, or something completely off-beat, you'll fit right in.

The club is run by International Friends in Edinburgh, a meetup group for people new to the city and for locals looking to meet new people. They describe their programme as intentionally loose and informal, with no fixed structure: walks, day trips, coffee meetups, pub nights, picnics, book clubs and movie nights all sit side by side. This is one of those coffee meetups, so it's more of a social afternoon than a formal seminar. You don't need to have a prepared presentation or a deep knowledge of film theory to join in; it's about chatting with other people who enjoy movies.

Because it's a discussion and not a screening, the focus is on the conversation itself. You'll spend the afternoon talking through films with a group of people, and since all genres are welcome, the conversation can go wherever the room takes it. It's a good way to hear about things you've never seen and to talk about the ones you can't stop thinking about.
