Elvana play the Edinburgh Corn Exchange with 'Elvis Fronted Nirvana', their tribute to the Nevermind album.
Elvana are back at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Saturday 7 November, their first Edinburgh date in a while. The whole premise of the band is right there in the name: Elvis fronting Nirvana. It's exactly what it sounds like — Nirvana's songs sung by an Elvis impersonator, with the full band behind him.
This particular show is a deep dive into Nevermind, the album that put Nirvana on the map. They're working their way through it, so you'll hear the songs from that record rather than a general best-of. The whole thing is delivered with what they call their signature Elvis swagger, so it's Nirvana's grunge run through the King of Rock and Roll's voice. If you're familiar with the album, you'll recognise the songs, just sung in a way they weren't originally.
Elvana are the only act on the bill, so the night is built around them. It's a straightforward setup: the band on stage, the Elvis vocals on top, and the Nevermind songs as the set. If you've never seen them before, that's the core of it — the grunge of the early nineties mixed with the voice of the fifties.
