Six-week dressmaking course for confident beginners and improvers, taught by guest tutor Michela Fulgoni at Artisan Stitch.
Artisan Stitch is running a six-week dressmaking course starting Wednesday 11 November, taught by guest tutor Michela Fulgoni. It's a morning course, so it's one of those things that fits into the start of your day rather than taking up an entire evening.
It's aimed at confident beginners and improvers — adults who've already got the basics of using a sewing machine down and want to build their confidence, accuracy and technique to get a well-fitting garment. If you can thread your machine and sew a straight line but feel a bit shaky about taking on a full piece of clothing, this is exactly where you're meant to be. Over the six weeks, you'll move from those basics towards something you can actually wear.
Artisan Stitch is an award-winning sewing school, and it's a proper hub for this kind of thing in Edinburgh. They run classes during the day, in the evenings and at weekends, covering everything from beginner sewing and dressmaking to soft furnishings, overlocker skills and sewing machine confidence. Alongside those, there are creative textile workshops like free motion embroidery, fabric upcycling, hand embroidery and needle felting. Every session is taught by a degree-trained textile designer with industry and teaching experience, and they also run family-friendly sessions, half-term activities and a popular Children's Summer School.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Edinburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
