Comedian and political satirist Cody Dahler brings his show 'The State of This!', based on his book on British politics, to The Assembly Rooms.
Cody Dahler brings The State of This! to The Assembly Rooms on Friday 6 November, a fast-paced, fact-filled live show that takes a look at the state of British politics. Dahler is an award-winning comedian, satirist and political writer who's built a following of over two million across his platforms, where he's known as a straight-talking oracle. The evening is built around his book, The State of This!: A Thicky Thicky Dumb Dumb's Guide to British Politics, and he's joined on stage by special guest hosts who open things up to the audience's questions.
That subtitle—A Thicky Thicky Dumb Dumb's Guide to British Politics—gives you a good sense of the angle he's taking. It's not a lecture; it's a guide for the rest of us, the ones who find the current political landscape a bit of a mess and want it made sense of without the jargon. The book itself retails for £16.99, and the show works its way through it, with the guest hosts helping to steer the conversation towards the questions coming from the room.
Munya Chawawa has described him as "a certified member of the satirical avengers, and a much needed tonic and educator in these mad times," which sums up the two sides of the night: the satire and the education. It's a show for ages 16 and over, and tickets are sold out.
