Free screening of the film 'The People's Emergency Briefing' with nine UK scientists, followed by a facilitated discussion hosted by Quakers in South East Scotland.
The Quaker Meeting House is hosting a screening of The People's Emergency Briefing on Saturday 14 November, starting at 3pm. It's a 50-minute film hosted by Chris Packham and featuring nine leading UK scientists and experts talking about the climate and nature crisis. Once the film finishes, there's a facilitated discussion led by Quakers in South East Scotland, so you'll have a chance to talk through what you've just seen rather than just heading home.
The film itself comes from the 'People's Emergency Briefing' petition, which has gathered more than 100,000 signatures calling on the UK government to hold regular televised emergency briefings on the climate and nature crisis. The film is essentially that briefing brought to the screen, with the scientists and experts laying out the situation and the reasons behind the petition. It's not a long watch — just under an hour — and the discussion that follows is where you can pick up the threads and hear other people's take on it.
