Live music night with 4th World Magazine (aka Spencer Clark), Heather Leigh and Firas Khnaisser at Home Bar.
4th World Magazine (also known as Spencer Clark) plays Home Bar on Sunday 8 November, presented by Braw Gigs. He's the main draw, but he's sharing the bill with Heather Leigh and Firas Khnaisser, so it's a full night rather than a single set.
Clark has been a figure in the DIY tape and CD-r underground since the early 2000s, and he was a founding member of The Skaters alongside James Ferraro. His work covers a lot of ground — avant-garde electronic, modern lo-fi exotica, industrial revivals and hypnagogic pop. Much of that comes through his Pacific City Sound Visions label, with releases that reference ufology, maritime cinema, science fiction and ancient civilisations. He's played Edinburgh before, at Summerhall back in 2017.
Heather Leigh is a Glasgow-based musical polymath, best known as an influential pedal steel guitarist. Her collaborations run from Peter Brötzmann and Shackleton to albums for Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ and Editions Mego. Firas Khnaisser is a Syrian/Lebanese performance artist and musician based here in Edinburgh, whose work draws on colonialism, pop culture, myth and ritual. He hosts the TFEH experimental concert series at the Fruitmarket and sits on the board of the inclusive music charity Sonic Bothy.
