Count Jaakola, the solo project of Finnish songwriter Tiia Jaakola, plays Home Bar in Edinburgh as her Scottish debut, for over-18s only.
Count Jaakola plays Home Bar on Saturday 31 October, and it's billed as her Scottish debut. The project is the solo work of London-based Finnish songwriter Tiia Jaakola, who'll be on keys and vocals. She's bringing a full band with her: Paul Rains, from Allo Darlin', on guitar, lap steel and drum machine, and Sarah Gonputh, of Green Seagull, on bass and backing vocals. Support comes from Elise Macdonald and Midi Paul.
Jaakola's debut album, Kind Eyes, came out in November 2025 on Tip Top Recordings. It's picked up some good support since then, with BBC 6 Music's Stuart Maconie, The Line of Best Fit, Austria's FM4 and Germany's ByteFM all getting behind it. She describes the sound as lush, dreamy DIY pop, where warm analogue synthesisers give way to brooding synths and resolve in the fizz and sparkle of guitars and drums. With Rains on lap steel and Gonputh on bass and backing vocals, that's a fair bit of the record's texture to work with on stage.

The night is presented by the Edinburgh Indiepop Collective, and it's for over-18s only. Doors open at 7:00pm, and the curfew is 11pm, so there's plenty of room for the support acts to play out before Jaakola takes over. Tickets start from £11.50.
