Intensive two-day weekend beginners' sewing course with instructor Jen Skedd, adding two extra projects and more sewing time than the standard course.
Artisan Stitch is running its Beginners Sewing Course XL in Edinburgh, and there are two ways to do it: a six-week evening course from Thursday 1 October to Thursday 5 November, or a two-day weekend on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 10am to 5pm each day. Both are for complete beginners, so you don't need to have touched a sewing machine before you walk through the door.
The XL is the extended version of the studio's signature programme, which they've been refining for over a decade and have taught to thousands of beginners. Compared to the shorter course, the XL adds two extra projects and about 50% more sewing time, so you get a bit more under your belt. The studio says it's launched more sewing journeys than any other course on its books, and it's recommended by Queen Margaret University as preparation for Home Economics.
Jen Skedd founded Artisan Stitch in 2015. She's been sewing since she was a child and builds her lessons around the mistakes she's made along the way, with expert tips to help you sew like a pro. The studio has picked up several Best Sewing Tuition Provider awards and a Certificate of Excellence. Every course includes access to the Artisan Stitch Learning Hub, a collection of guides, notes, video tutorials and ongoing email support to keep you going after the classes finish.
