Sir Chris Hoy, six-time Olympic gold medallist and author of 'All That Matters', speaks candidly about grief and clarity after his cancer diagnosis.
Sir Chris Hoy will be at Usher Hall on Saturday 28 November, speaking about the years since his cancer diagnosis. Most of us know him as one of Britain's greatest Olympians — six gold medals and eleven world titles — but this is a different kind of appearance. In 2023 he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and he's been open about the grief and the recalibration that followed. It wasn't just his own diagnosis, either; his wife Sarra received her own serious diagnosis at the same time.
That's the ground the evening covers: grief, clarity, and how things shift when the floor drops out. It's less about the medals and more about what comes after. He's also talking about the work he's done since, including Tour de 4, the charity cycling event he founded that brought together over 5,000 riders and raised more than £3 million for cancer charities.
There's a book to go with it, too. All That Matters is part memoir and part guide to living with more attention, and it'll be sold as a paperback at the venue if you want to take something home. The show is recommended for ages 12 and over and is captioned.
