Afternoon tea with author Rosie Steer and a craft demonstration from her book 'Gloaming' to celebrate its publication.
Rosie Steer is hosting an afternoon tea at Waterstones on Saturday 14 November, from 15:30 to 16:30, to celebrate the publication of her book Gloaming. It's a cosy one, and the ticket includes a selection of cakes and a hot drink.
Gloaming is a guide to finding glimmers in hard times and dark winters, and it takes its structure from the micro-seasons her Celtic ancestors observed throughout the year. Steer divides the book into four ancient seasons: Hairst (harvest), Samhain (Hallowe'en), Howe o' the Year (winter solstice), and Waretym (earliest spring). Each section pairs a step-by-step craft with a soul-nourishing bake, and both are rooted in stories and traditions from Scottish folklore. The crafts include Clay Pressed Botanical Imprints and an Upcycled Hot Water Bottle Cover; the bakes are Spiced Pumpkin Loaf Cake and Clementine and Almond Buns. On the day, Steer will be there with a craft demonstration from the book.
