Acclaimed Scottish jazz and soul vocalist Georgia Cécile brings her Christmas show to the Assembly Rooms.
Georgia Cécile brings her special Christmas show to the Assembly Rooms on Tuesday 15 December, a night presented by Regular Music. Cécile is a Scottish vocalist and songwriter whose work pulls from jazz, classic soul and contemporary pop-crossover, and this is her festive take on that sound.
She's built a name for herself in the jazz world, named Jazz FM's Jazz Vocalist of the Year and UK Jazz Act of the Year. BBC Radio Scotland has described her as 'modern and soulful, but absolutely rooted in the traditions of mainstream jazz', and that's a good way to frame what she does. Her sound is lush and orchestral, blending soulful melodies with modern lyrical songwriting, and it's that mix of the old-school jazz tradition and a more contemporary songwriting approach that marks her out.
It's a Scottish voice, too — she's an acclaimed Scottish vocalist, and this show is part of her work as a songwriter as well as a singer. The Christmas theme is the focus here, so you'll be hearing her take on the season through that jazz-soul lens.
