A multi-sensory musical candlelight tribute to the music of Coldplay and Ed Sheeran performed by the Belford String Quartet in a cathedral setting.
St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral hosts a Candlelight tribute to Coldplay and Ed Sheeran on Saturday 7 November, with the Belford String Quartet taking the stage. It's a sixty-minute set that brings together two of the biggest names in pop under the glow of candlelight in the cathedral, and it's part of the Candlelight series Fever runs across the city.
The Coldplay half of the programme covers a fair bit of ground. You'll hear Clocks, Something Just Like This, Adventure of a Lifetime, Fix You, The Scientist, Feels Like I'm Falling in Love, Viva la Vida and A Sky Full of Stars — a mix of the early piano-led songs and the later, more stadium-filling stuff. The Ed Sheeran side is a bit shorter, with Bad Habits, Photograph, Shivers, Perfect and Give Me Love.
It's worth keeping in mind that this is a string quartet doing their own take on the songs, not the original artists themselves. The show isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, their estates or official representatives. Fever also stages other Candlelight tributes at St Mary's, with Hans Zimmer, ABBA, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, Oasis and Olivia Dean among the names they've brought to the cathedral.
