Children's play about a band of outlaws in the town of Dry Gulch, written by Michael Schirtzinger and directed by Stefanie Schirtzinger.
Way Out West is coming to the Westgate Community Center for two shows in mid-November. It's a children's play written by Michael Schirtzinger and directed by Stefanie Schirtzinger, and it's set in the little town of Dry Gulch. For most of the story, life there is peaceful, until a band of outlaws rides into town and throws everything out of balance.
With no sheriff to protect them, the quirky townsfolk have to take matters into their own hands and restore law and order themselves. They get some help along the way from a mysterious newcomer and a few adventurous kids, and the plot works its way through plenty of unexpected twists. It's a Western in the traditional sense—outlaws, a small town, and a community figuring out how to stand up for itself—but written for a younger audience.
There are two ways to catch it. The first is Friday, November 13, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, which works if you're looking for something to do on a Friday night. The second is Saturday, November 14, at 2 PM, which is a better fit if you've got kids in tow and want to keep the afternoon open. Both are at the Westgate Community Center, 455 S. Westgate Ave., Columbus, OH 43204.
