Workshop for nonprofit staff and leaders on how to design programs that stay aligned with their mission, led by Jen Patterson of Mango Consulting.
Jen Patterson of Mango Consulting leads a workshop on program development at the Main Library on Tuesday, October 20, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. It's aimed at nonprofit staff and leaders, and the whole session is about how to design programs that stay aligned with an organization's mission.
That's the core of it: making sure what you're actually doing on the ground matches the mission you've put on paper. It's easy for a nonprofit to drift as it grows, taking on new projects that feel right in the moment but pull it away from its original purpose. Patterson's session is built around how to avoid that drift and keep your programs tied to the mission that started the organization in the first place.
The workshop is part of the Business & Nonprofit Resource Center, a dedicated workspace for small businesses and nonprofits inside the Main Library at 96 S. Grant Ave. It's staffed by specialized librarians and equipped with Windows and Mac computers running Adobe Creative Cloud, so it's more than just a place to attend a session. The center also has a reservable private meeting room, one-on-one librarian assistance, and a subscription to LivePlan—a planning resource that library customers can use for four weeks and then download their finished plan afterward.

If you're running a nonprofit or working on the staff, it's a good chance to step back and look at your programming through that mission-first lens. The session runs from 10 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 20, at the Main Library on Grant Avenue.
