A charity book sale held by the Friends of the Library to sell withdrawn items from the library collection, with books starting at $1.
The Big Book Sale returns to the Columbus Metropolitan Library Main Library at 96 S. Grant Ave., taking over the Auditorium and Meeting Room 1A for a long weekend of browsing. It's one of the Friends of the Library's favorite events, held three times a year to give items withdrawn from the library's collection a second chance at a well-read life. The public sale runs Friday and Saturday, with a clearance Bag Sale on Sunday afternoon.
If you're a member of the Friends of the Library, you get early access at a preview sale and a discount on what you buy. Anyone can join the organization online or at any library location. Volunteers get early shopping access too, plus one free book per shift. The money raised supports library programs and services and helps fund future library levy campaigns. The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization whose mission is to build awareness and resources to champion the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
As for what's on the tables, children's books, comics, and vinyl records start at $1; adult fiction and nonfiction at $2; DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks at $3. On Sunday, the Bag Sale lets you bring a sturdy bag and fill it for $5.
