Monthly free walk for pre-school children around the Cambridge Botanic Garden with activities and a story.
Welly Walks returns to the Cambridge University Botanic Garden on Thursday 19 November, the latest in the Garden's monthly series of walks for pre-school children. It's a simple enough premise: a guided stroll around the grounds, designed for little ones to get out and explore the Garden on foot.
Along the way, the walk is broken up with activities and a story, so it's not just a long trek — there's plenty to stop and do. The Garden itself is right in the heart of the city, and it's a great spot for this kind of thing, with plenty of space for small children to wander without the traffic of the city centre pressing in. If you've been before, you'll know the layout: wide paths and plenty of greenery to point at.
It's part of a regular monthly run, so if you've got a pre-schooler, this is one of those things you can keep coming back to as they grow. The Garden's seasonal highlights — the Bee Borders, the Scented Garden, the Rose Garden and the Herbaceous Beds — change throughout the year, so the scenery shifts each time you visit. The Main Lawn also hosts the Sounds Green live music series on Wednesday evenings throughout July, so the site stays busy well into the summer.

On the practical side, children's tickets are free, but you still need to book them. Booking opens one week in advance, so keep that in mind if you're planning ahead. Standard admission applies for adults, and the walk is held at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden in Cambridge.
