An evening of winter stories and songs, with snow-clad forests, solstice legends and fiery folk tales, staged by the Museum of Cambridge.
Winter Calling comes to the Museum of Cambridge on Sunday 29 November, an evening of winter stories and songs put on by the museum itself. It's a two-person bill: storyteller Hannah Moore and folk musician Danny Pedler, working together rather than taking separate slots.
The material they're drawing on is all winter-themed, with the museum describing it as pulling from snow-clad forests, solstice legends and fiery folk tales. That's the whole of it — stories and songs that lean into the cold, the dark, and the folklore of the season, rather than a mix of unrelated pieces. It's the kind of thing that fits the time of year, coming just a few weeks before the winter solstice.
As for the people on stage, Hannah Moore is a storyteller and Danny Pedler is a folk musician, and the night is built around them sharing the room. The museum is organising the whole thing, so it's their night as well as theirs. It's a straightforward pairing — one telling, one playing — and the two of them together on the same bill.
