Free family session for under-5s to discover birds through stories, handle real feathers and make an owl mask.
Animal Tails: Our feathered friends comes to the Museum of Zoology on Friday 13 November, a morning session for under-fives that lets little ones explore the world of birds through stories and interactive play. It's part of the museum's Animal Tails series, which is designed as a family session for the under-five crowd, so it's built for the age group rather than just being a general tour.
The session is aimed at children aged 2 to 5, and they'll get to handle real feathers, track down the birds on display around the room and find out how some species cope with the cold of winter. It's a hands-on way of introducing them to birds, with the stories and the search around the room keeping things moving. To finish, they'll make an owl mask to take home, so there's something to carry away from the morning.
