Musical show from the producers of Seven Drunken Nights with a cast of musicians and singers, set on a traditional Irish Christmas Eve.
Christmas in Ireland comes to the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Thursday 10 December, part of the venue's winter programme. It's a musical show that sets the scene inside a traditional Irish pub on Christmas Eve, with friends gathering to share songs, stories and memories of past Christmases while snow falls outside. The whole thing is performed live by a cast of musicians and singers, and it comes from the producers of Seven Drunken Nights.
The setlist pulls from a mix of Christmas classics and Irish ballads. You'll hear 'Driving Home For Christmas', 'Dirty Old Town' and 'Fairytale Of New York' among them, so it's as much about the big singalongs as it is about the storytelling. The pub setting is the through-line, with the songs and stories woven around that one room.
It's one of several Christmas-themed nights the Corn Exchange has lined up for the season. The winter programme also includes Tony Hadley's Christmas Big Band Tour, The Unthanks in Winter, Step into Christmas, Kate Rusby at Christmas, and Swing Into Christmas with the Down for the Count Swing Orchestra, alongside ballet productions of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
