One-night-only musical by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society, with music from Rent, Dear Evan Hansen, Death Becomes Her and Hadestown.
Victims of the Cambridge Theatre Degree runs at the ADC Theatre (Larkum Studio) on Thursday 5 November, a one-night musical theatre show from the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society. The set is built around music from Rent, Dear Evan Hansen, Death Becomes Her and Hadestown, performed by Ella Jenkins, Olivia Mornin and Zaria Jankelovitz-Gelvan.
It's framed as a backstage essay by the performers themselves, who weigh up how many hours they put into their English degrees against how many they gave to the ADC. They draw on their own experiences of waking up at 3am for a get-in, dressing up as anthropomorphic animals in 33-degree heat and vacuuming the ADC steps at 4am. It's a one-night-only production, so this is the only chance to catch it.
The show comes from the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society (CUMTS), which was founded in October 1998 to stage high-quality musical theatre around the city, mostly at the ADC Theatre but also at the Corpus Playroom and at May Balls. They take an original musical to the Edinburgh Fringe every year, and past successes include Six, now on the West End and Broadway, Rust, Best Musical at The Fringe 2019, and On Your Bike, Best Musical at The Fringe 2021. They also stage three Bar Nights a term and have grown into one of the largest and most highly regarded student musical theatre societies in the country.
