Conversation with music video director Tim Pope, interviewed by Simon Price, with a signing of his memoir 'I Shoot Rockstars'.
Tim Pope is coming to Resident Music on Thursday 17 September for a conversation and book signing. If you've spent any time watching music videos from the last few decades, you've seen his work without necessarily knowing his name. He's the director who stood behind the camera for some of the most famous pop videos of the era, working with David Bowie, Neil Young, Iggy Pop, Talk Talk, Wham!, Queen and The Cure. It's a long list of names that rarely end up in the same room, let alone the same career.
He's now telling the stories from behind those shoots in his memoir, I Shoot Rockstars, which came out on 13 August. The book is a collection of the riotous behind-the-scenes tales he's gathered over the years, and this evening is built around it. The conversation is conducted by Simon Price, so you'll get the stories as an interview rather than a solo talk, with the book signing to follow. If you've already picked up a copy, you can bring it along to get it signed; if not, physical copies are available to collect on the door.

Resident Music is presenting this as a standing event, though there are a limited number of chairs available if you'd rather sit. Under-14s get in free, so it's one you can bring the younger ones to if they're into music history. The whole thing runs from 18:15 to 20:15 on Thursday 17 September, with standard tickets at £9.99.
