Rick Wakeman is coming to Wagner Hall on Sunday 8 November for an evening in conversation and a book signing, presented by Resident Music. It's not a gig — there's no band on stage — but a talk built around his autobiography, which he describes as a wild and witty definitive account of his life. The conversation follows a career that's gone through dramatic spirals, spectacular comebacks and legendary rock 'n' roll excess, so if you've ever wondered how he ended up where he did, this is the night to hear it from him.
For those who only know the name, Wakeman is the 'Wizard of Prog', a piano-playing child prodigy and classically trained keyboardist whose career took off with Yes and as a solo artist. He's sold around 50 million albums under his own name and countless millions more with Yes, and has collaborated with David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Marc Bolan and Elton John. The talk traces that whole arc, from the early days to the big records and the chaos in between.

It's open to all ages, though under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult. If you want the book, you can get it as part of your ticket or pick it up at the venue on the night. Entry is £20, or £30 if you want the book included. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the evening runs from 6:30pm to 10:00pm at Wagner Hall on Regency Road, BN1 2RU.
