Nick Heyward in conversation with Alexis Petridis, followed by a book signing for his memoir 'Fantastic Days'.
Nick Heyward is at Resident Music on Friday 20 November, for a conversation and book signing. He's there to mark Fantastic Days, his long-overdue memoir, which comes out on 5 November. The evening is built around the book: Heyward sits down for a chat with Alexis Petridis, the Guardian's head of rock and pop criticism, and stays on afterwards to sign copies.
Fantastic Days covers the ground most of us associate him with — his time in and out of Haircut One Hundred and the international fame that followed — but it doesn't stop there. He also writes about his later years as a commercial outcast, so it's as much about the quiet years as the loud ones. Petridis is a local music journalist, and the whole thing is set up as an intimate conversation rather than a formal interview.
Resident Music frames its instore and outstore events — signings, Q&As, acoustic sets and full band shows — as personal experiences that connect artists with their fanbases in spaces much smaller than they usually play. The room holds 180 people, and it's a standing event with a limited number of chairs. Physical copies of the book will be available to collect on the door, so you can pick up your copy and get it signed in the same trip.
