Halloween special of WiFi Wars, the live comedy game show that turns the audience into competitors playing games and quizzes on their smartphones.
WiFi Wars is coming to MAC Birmingham on Thursday 29 October, with two shows that day — one at 3:00pm and another at 7:00pm. It's a live comedy game show that turns the whole audience into competitors: games and quizzes are beamed to your smartphone or tablet through the show's Guinness World Record-breaking technology, which they developed during a residency at London's Royal Institution. You don't need an app or anything installed in advance; just bring a charged smart device and you're in. The format pulls from all sorts — classic TV game shows, retro video games, and modern first-person shooters — and the narrative builds in real time, with new heroes becoming local legends by the end. The Guardian called it 'Not To be Missed'.
This Halloween special is part of the Little Geeks digital tech festival at the MAC, which runs from 25 October to 2 November. It's a good mix of live shows, gaming, hi and lo-fi tech, and workshops, with a free Smart Play Zone and a budget-friendly Ambient Arcade running alongside. The WiFi Wars session is recommended for ages six and over, so it works as a family thing if you've got younger ones with you. Each show runs for an hour and a half, and tickets start from £15.95.
