The largest authentic German-style Christmas market outside Germany or Austria, featuring over 80 Bavarian-style stalls selling food, gifts and decorations.
Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market returns to Victoria Square and New Street from Thursday 5 November to Thursday 24 December 2026, open every day. It's the most visible sign of the partner-city relationship between Birmingham and Frankfurt, bringing the German Christmas market tradition right into the heart of the West Midlands. It's billed as the largest authentic market of its kind outside Germany or Austria, with more than 80 Bavarian-style stalls. You'll find bratwurst, pretzels, schnitzel and glühwein alongside handcrafted gifts, decorations and jewellery. The original Christmas market in Frankfurt dates back to 1393, so the tradition it's based on is a long one.
It's a firm fixture of the city's annual calendar and a favourite with residents and visitors from across the UK and Europe. The market is run as an inclusive, family-friendly event: assistance dogs are welcome, it's fully accessible by wheelchair with accessible toilets near the stage, and Challenge 25 operates for the responsible sale of alcohol. If you're planning to bring the whole family, those details are worth keeping in mind.

There's one exception to watch out for: on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, it opens later at 1pm. With the market running every day from early November through to just before Christmas, you've plenty of time to fit in a visit.
