A guided film tour of Birmingham presented by The Locationist, with sessions on 18 October and 1 November, exploring scenes from popular TV shows and films.
The Locationist is running BMAG on Film at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on Sunday 18 October, with a second session on 1 November. It's a guided film tour that starts inside the museum and works its way out into the surrounding streets, so you'll see the building from the inside and the outside on the same walk.
The tour is led by Lee Perkins, who runs The Locationist, an immersive film and TV locations walking tour company operating across Birmingham and Manchester. He's a former BBC and ITV tour guide and spent nearly twenty years as a CBBC events presenter, and he's also worked as a supporting artist on numerous productions himself. He leads the walks personally, so you're getting someone who's spent two decades in the industry rather than a script read by a stranger.
What sets this one apart is the access. You'll get into parts of the gallery not usually open to the public, including the lower levels reached by a narrow staircase of more than fifty steps. Along the way, Perkins screen-matches scenes to their real-world locations using screen-grab photographs, pointing out exactly where parts of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Silent Witness, The Game, Citadel, The Colour Room and KingsMan: The Golden Circle were filmed. It's aimed at film geeks, students, content creators and anyone with a general interest in on-location filmmaking.

Both sessions run on selected Sundays at 12:00, starting at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square, B3 3DH. If you're a bit of a film buff or just curious about how the city ends up on screen, it's a good way to see a familiar building from a completely different angle.
