Free drop-in drawing session where visitors of all ages draw on a giant roll of paper with artist Molly Cleaver in Joe Lycett's exhibition.
Molly Cleaver is running a drop-in drawing session at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on Tuesday 27 October, from 11:00am. It's part of EVERY THING MUST GO, the first major solo art show from comedian Joe Lycett.
Lycett's exhibition draws on objects from Birmingham's city collection and works around nostalgia, grief and loss. He gathers subjects from across the spectrum — deceased celebrities, extinct animals, discontinued chocolate bars and demolished buildings — and presents them in a tongue-in-cheek, childlike style. He describes the gallery as a 'neon graveyard', and that's the world you're stepping into here.
Cleaver is one of the artists whose work is featured in the show, and this session is your chance to get creative alongside her. The setup is simple: you grab a pencil and help fill a gigantic roll of paper with bold shapes, bright colours and imaginative ideas, adding your own mark to a giant collaborative artwork. There's no experience needed, and it's open to all ages, so it works as well for a solo trip as it does for bringing the kids along.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Birmingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

The session is free, and because it's a drop-in, you can just turn up when you fancy rather than committing to a set time. You'll find it at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square, B3 3DH, starting at 11:00am on Tuesday 27 October.
