Interactive bubble show where magic, storytelling and science meet in a display of bubble artistry led by bubble artist Highland Joker.
The Bubble Show comes to MAC Birmingham on Sunday 25 October, with two performances that day: one at 11:30am and another at 2:30pm. It's an interactive show that brings together magic, storytelling and science, all built around bubble artistry. The whole thing runs for about an hour and is recommended for ages three and over, so it's a good shout for a Sunday morning or afternoon with the kids.
Leading the show is Highland Joker, an actor, storyteller and Guinness World Record holder who's described as one of the foremost bubble artists in the world. His work has been called 'flawlessly simple and full of wonder', and that's a fair way to sum up what he does: taking something as ordinary as a bubble and pushing it into territory you wouldn't expect. The show is an original adventure rather than a set of disconnected tricks, so there's a thread of storytelling that ties the different bits together.
As for the bubbles themselves, he works through a wide repertoire. There's a bubble volcano and a fire tornado, alongside bouncy bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, smoke bubbles, square bubbles, giant bubbles and even fire bubbles. It's the kind of thing that works as well for the science-curious as it does for the younger ones, since the whole show leans on the physics of how bubbles actually work.
