Family show in which ZooLab brings live animals to Blakesley Hall to explore the superstitions and remedies of Tudor times.
ZooLab are bringing their Witchcraft and Wizardry show to Blakesley Hall on Wednesday 28 October, a family-friendly session that pairs live animals with the superstitions and remedies of Tudor times. It's a hands-on one, so you'll get up close with exotic creatures like snakes, spiders, snails and rats, rather than just watching from a distance.
While you're meeting the animals, the show looks at what old wise women prescribed for ailments like a sore throat, and why rats were so widely loathed back then. It's as much about the history of folk medicine and superstition as it is about the animals themselves, so it works for all ages. The whole thing runs for around 45 minutes, which is a good length for younger ones to stay focused without getting restless.
