Drop-in sessions with Dr Matt Pritchard, the Science Magician, who blends STEM and magic to reveal the science behind the illusions.
Dr Matt Pritchard is at Thinktank on Friday 30 October, the final day of the half-term break. He goes by the name the Science Magician, and that's exactly what he does: he blends STEM with magic, mixing illusions and experiments with interactive demonstrations. The whole point is to show the science behind the tricks, so you see the physics and the chemistry that make the impossible look real.
It's not a single show you have to book for a specific time. There are four drop-in sessions starting at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, and each one runs for about 30 to 40 minutes. That makes it easy to fit around the rest of your day, especially if you're out with kids who can't sit still for long. You just turn up when it suits you, rather than working your whole afternoon around a single start time.
This is part of the wider Magic Mayhem Science Show, which runs from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October at Thinktank. The venue itself is open every day from 10am to 5pm from 24 October to 1 November, with extra activities on throughout the half-term, so there's plenty more to do around the sessions if you're spending the whole day there.

Dr Pritchard describes his work as fusing science and magic for spooky half-term fun, and since it's the final Friday of the school holidays, it's a good way to cap off the break. The sessions are on 30 October, with the four drop-in slots at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, each running about 30 to 40 minutes.
