A cinema-style screening of 'Hocus Pocus' in Thinktank's 360° planetarium dome for Halloween, part of the museum's 'Cinema under the stars' series.
Thinktank is screening Hocus Pocus in its planetarium on Friday 30 October, just a few days before Halloween. It's a cinema-style showing, so you're watching the film rather than a live performance, but the setting is what makes it different: the movie plays across the planetarium's 360° dome, which wraps around you and puts the action all around the room instead of on a flat screen. The screening is part of the museum's 'Cinema under the stars' series, which they describe as a cosmic celebration of friendly frights and interstellar fun.
If you've never been, Thinktank is the Birmingham Science Museum at Millennium Point in the city centre. It's an award-winning spot with more than 200 hands-on exhibits spread across four floors, and the planetarium itself is a 4K dome. There's also MiniBrum, a child-sized version of the museum, and an interactive outdoor Science Garden. Inside you'll find Gamesworld, a retro-gaming session that covers six decades of video gaming history, so if you're arriving early or staying late, there's plenty to do around the screening.
