Immersive fulldome experience approved by Queen, threading together the band's best-known music videos with solar system visuals.
Queen Heaven is coming to the Thinktank Planetarium on two selected Fridays this autumn: 13 November and 11 December. It's a fulldome experience approved by Queen and built around the band's music, so it's not a space show in the usual sense. The whole thing runs for 83 minutes, and it's recommended for ages 13 and over, with under-16s needing to be accompanied by an adult.
The show threads together some of the group's best-known music videos, including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Radio Gaga and We Are the Champions, and sets them alongside immersive solar system visuals and archive footage. Because it's projected onto the planetarium's dome, the imagery wraps around you rather than sitting on a flat screen. The visuals include flashing effects that can make some viewers feel a sensation of movement, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're sensitive to that sort of thing.
It's a bit of a different way to hear the songs you already know, and the planetarium setting puts them in a context you wouldn't find at a gig. The music videos are the core of it, and the archive footage gives you a look at the band themselves, not just the tracks. With the solar system visuals filling in the gaps, it's a long stretch of music and imagery rather than a quick highlight reel.
