Free, drop-in Sunday creative workshop where visitors of all ages make something different each week from the museum's galleries and exhibitions.
Marvellous Makers runs every Sunday from 11am to 3pm at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, where a corner of the museum is turned into a creative space for families to drop in and make things. The activities change every single week, so if you go more than once you'll find something different each time. The sessions draw their inspiration from the galleries and exhibitions hanging around the rooms, meaning whatever you're working on is tied to what's actually on display in the museum.
One week you might be building wild sculptures from recycled materials, the next drawing from real-life taxidermy. There are huge collaborative floor artworks that a whole room can work on together, and times when you make your own wearable badge art to take home. Because the activities shift weekly, it's the kind of thing you can keep coming back to without it feeling like the same old thing.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Birmingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's a free, drop-in session, so there's no booking required—you just turn up when it suits you. It's open to all ages, though children need to be supervised by an adult. The museum runs it alongside other free drop-in creative offers, like the Friday Crafternoons, so if you're in the habit of spending your weekends at the gallery, this fits right in. It's free, it's on every Sunday from 11am to 3pm, and you don't need to book ahead.
