Hands-on jewellery workshop for children aged 8 and up to design and make their own bracelet or pendant using real jewellers' techniques.
The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is running a kids' jewellery workshop on Thursday 29 October, with two sessions to choose from: one at 10:00am and another at 1:00pm, each running for two hours. It's a hands-on morning or afternoon for children to design and make their own piece of jewellery—either a bracelet or a pendant—with the museum's learning team on hand to guide them through it.
What makes this one a bit different from your usual craft session is that they're using real jewellers' techniques. The kids will be texturing metal, hammering, stamping and enamelling, so they're working with the same kinds of methods used in a professional workshop rather than just sticking beads on a string. They'll leave with something unique and personal to take home, and the museum's learning team is there to help them get it right along the way.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you book. The workshop is recommended for ages 8 and up, and for safety reasons, under-5s can't be accommodated. Each child needs to be accompanied by one adult, and that's strictly one adult per booking. It can get quite noisy in there, so ear defenders are a good shout—the museum can provide them, or you're welcome to bring your own if you've already got a pair.

Places are limited, so you'll need to pre-book; they only sell child tickets, and it's ÂŁ18 per child. The museum is on Vyse Street in the Jewellery Quarter, and with the two sessions on the same day, you can pick whichever fits your schedule best.
