Free-to-play board games night hosted by games designer Andy Hopwood at The Hop Garden in Harborne.
Games at The Hop Garden returns to The Hop Garden on Tuesday 27 October, the official games night for the Harborne pub. It's a board games session hosted by Andy Hopwood, an award-winning games designer who acts as resident expert and looks after newcomers, so if you're turning up without a group or haven't played much before, there's someone on hand to get you sorted.
The night sits within a wider board and card game scene across Birmingham and the West Midlands, with regular nights at venues like The Good Intent and The Bull Inn, as well as an online board game evening. The Hop Garden itself is an old building in Harborne with plenty of tables, good lighting, and ales on tap, though it's worth knowing that it hasn't been made wheelchair friendly.
It's free to play, but attendees are expected to buy drinks from the venue. The session starts at 6:30pm, with attendees welcome from 5pm if you want to get in early and settle in. Staff leave at 10:30pm, and no new games are started after 10pm, so if you're planning a longer one, it's best to get going sooner rather than later.
