Birmingham - People Planet Pint x Stuart Goldsmith

Stuart Goldsmith is coming to BRIG Café at The Warehouse on Friday 13 November, and he's bringing a particular kind of crowd with him. The night is a People Planet Pint session, which is a sustainability meetup run by Small99. It's a global thing now, reaching over 140 cities across 15 countries with around 80 events a month. Since 2023, they've trained over 3,000 businesses on Net Zero and reached more than 50,000 people. The format is the thing: it avoids pitches, PowerPoints and panels, and instead puts people doing climate and social-impact work in ordinary jobs in the same room as climatetech founders and anyone who's just had sustainability land on their desk. The first ten drinks are on Krystal, a B Corp web-hosting provider.

This particular session is the drinks gathering before Goldsmith's show. He's a self-styled climate comedian, described as an 'expert stand-up' by the Sunday Times, who's performed at The Apollo and appeared on Netflix's Is a Joke and on Conan. He's currently on his first UK tour in nearly a decade with Canary, a show built around the apparent collapse of everything, which he bills as his most honest, hilarious and hopeful hour yet.

It's worth getting the logistics straight, though. Registering for the People Planet Pint session gets you into the reserved bar area for the drinks and the meetup; it doesn't include the comedy. Tickets for the show are sold separately, so if you want to see Canary as well as the drinks, you'll need to sort both. The meetup runs from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at BRIG Café at The Warehouse, 54-57 Allison Street, Birmingham B5 5TH, and entry to the session is free.
