Free drop-in drawing workshop to reimagine greener Birmingham locations, linked to the Wild City exhibition.
Draw the Green Future is a drop-in drawing workshop at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery on Friday 30 October, starting at 11:00. It sits inside the Wild City exhibition, so you can wander through the main show and then settle in for a bit of drawing whenever you fancy it.
The idea is simple: you're asked to reimagine a place in Birmingham as greener, wilder and more alive. It's less about technical skill and more about what you'd like to see in the city, and it ties into the exhibition's themes of past, present and future. If you're not sure where to start, there are template drawings of Birmingham locations on hand to get you going. If you're more confident, there's a full range of materials laid out for you to work with however you like.
What you make doesn't just stay on the table. The resulting images are pinned up in the museum and uploaded to the Draw the Green Future interactive map, where visions of greener neighbourhoods from across the UK have already been pinned to real streets. Your version of a Birmingham spot will sit alongside those, so it's as much about adding to a wider collection as it is about the drawing itself.

It's a drop-in session, so you don't need to commit to the whole day — you can just pop in for half an hour or stay for a few. It's free to take part, and you'll find it inside the Wild City exhibition at the museum, Chamberlain Square, B3 3DH, Birmingham.
