Stand-up night of the museum's winter comedy season with Darren Harriott, Masai Graham and Michael Shafar, with Josephine Lacey as MC.
Darren Harriott headlines Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on Thursday 5 November, as part of the museum's winter comedy season. It's a slow-burn kind of evening: doors open at 6 pm, leaving you an hour to wander through the Level 2 galleries and grab a drink before the show starts at 7 pm. The whole thing takes place in The Tearoom, so you're in the heart of the building rather than a separate theatre space.
Harriott is a Birmingham native and a former security guard, and he's the first Black British stand-up to be nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award — and a double nominee at that. His 2023 Fringe show, Roadman, picked up four-star reviews and was named a Pick of the Fringe by both The Guardian and The Evening Standard. These days you'll find him co-hosting Love Island: Aftersun and presenting a Sunday show on BBC West Midlands.
He's not on his own, though. The support comes from fellow West Midlands native Masai Graham, a two-time winner of Dave's Funniest Joke of the Fringe, and Josephine Lacey, who's been working the London circuit since 2008 and sold out her 2022 debut Autism Mama at the Soho Theatre. Lacey is also the night's MC, so she'll be the one holding the room together between acts.

It's one of the museum's regular comedy nights, which run on the first Thursday of selected months throughout the winter. Tickets are £19.50 for over-18s, and with doors at 6 pm and the show at 7 pm, you've got plenty of time to see the galleries before the first act takes the stage.
