Screening of Cristian Mungiu's film 'Fjord' as part of the 70th BFI London Film Festival, presented at MAC Birmingham under the LFF On Tour series.
Cristian Mungiu brings Fjord to MAC Birmingham on Sunday 18 October, as part of the 70th BFI London Film Festival. It's a Romanian family living in Norway who find themselves under investigation and the scrutiny of the local judicial system, a moral dilemma that pits conservative Christian parents against a holier-than-thou liberal system. It's Mungiu's second Palme d'Or winner, coming after 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.
The screening is part of LFF On Tour, which takes the festival beyond London to ten venues across the UK, with MAC being one of them. The festival itself runs from 7 to 18 October 2026, and this is one of the final screenings of the run. Across the whole programme, there are 251 features, shorts, series and immersive works from 88 countries, including 33 World Premieres, 16 International Premieres and 20 European Premieres. 109 of those works are by female filmmakers, which makes up 43% of the line-up.
